McCabe Russell Teams Up with Community Action Council of Howard County for Firm Volunteer Day

One of the best parts of going to work every day is knowing we make a difference in the lives of the people we help. Because this sense of community is important to all of us at McCabe Russell, PA, we thought the best way to show our support was through a Firm Volunteer Day. This year, we teamed up with the Community Action Council of Howard County to help our local food bank.

The Community Action Council of Howard County provides local services in a variety of areas, including housing assistance, food assistance, energy and weatherization assistance, and early childhood education. Its mission – “to diminish poverty and enable self-sufficiency for all Howard County individuals, families, and children in need” – has helped countless people find stability and support when they need it the most.

The Howard County Food Bank sponsors 14 different food pantries, but it’s also the model for modern day food banks. It was one of the first to implement a “shopping model” design, just like a neighborhood grocery store, and provides fresh food from its own community garden, local stores, and local farms.

Working together to help our community was incredibly meaningful for us, but we admit – we had a really great time doing it, too! We ‘re happy to share some photos of that day with you all, but first we want to share information about how you can help the programs supported by CAC of Howard County:
