About our firm founders
The firm is led by partners Heather McCabe and Emily Russell. Both attorneys are Certified Best Interest Attorneys and active members of the legal community. The firm’s attorneys offer complex litigation, mediation, divorce, and family law services for traditional and LGBTQIA+ couples throughout the state. The firm is accredited by the Better Business Bureau, and has been recognized by objective ratings services.
Heather McCabe is an experienced negotiator and longtime member of the Maryland Association of Justice. Her certifications as a Best Interest attorney, Parenting Coordinator, and mediator make her a strong presence both at the negotiating table and in court, and a tireless advocate for her clients.
Heather was named a Top Attorney in 2019 by Bethesda Magazine, and was recently recognized by Lawyers of Distinction for 2020. She was a 2016 recipient of Avvo’s Clients’ Choice Award, and received the President’s Citation for Pro Bono Service in 2011. She was selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers for 2021.
Emily Russell leads McCabe Russell’s litigation team, specializing in divorce and child custody cases. Her skills in the courtroom make her one of the most sought-out trial attorneys in the area.
Emily is also a Litigation Counsel of America Fellow, and a Certified Collaborative Divorce Practitioner. She was named Pro Bono Attorney of the Year in 2011 by the Montgomery County Bar Association, and was a 2015 recipient of Avvo’s Clients’ Choice Award. She has been selected for Super Lawyers Rising Stars (2017-2019) and Super Lawyers (2020-2021).
